These Stacking Brick Boxes might be one of the most fun paper projects I’ve made in a while. They stack together just like the classic toy bricks we all know, but each one opens up so you can fill them with treats, candy, small gifts, or party favors.

Stacking Brick Boxes
I designed these boxes so the studs on the top fit into the holes on the bottom of another box, which lets them actually stack together. One handy detail is the inside insert piece. Even though there are holes on the bottom for stacking, the insert covers everything from the inside so you can still fill the box with treats without anything falling out.

Cardstock Really Matters
Good cardstock will absolutely make or break this project. I made mine at 3 inches, which means the studs are fairly small and detailed. I used Encore cardstock from 12x12 Cardstock Shop and it cut beautifully. A quality cardstock makes a huge difference with all of the intricate cuts in this design.

Resize Them for Bigger Projects
I made these boxes at 3x3, but you can absolutely size them up larger. I think oversized versions would make such a cool party prop for birthdays or themed events. Imagine a whole stack of giant paper bricks filled with favors or candy.

Subscriber Freebie
This template is a paid file in my shop, but it is currently available as a freebie for subscribers over on Patreon. If you enjoy projects like this, that is definitely the best place to grab exclusive files, tutorials, freebies, and more.
Assbembly Instructions
Step 1
Locate the bottom of the box. This piece does not have the semicircles cut into the sides. Fold the 4 sides up into a box shape and glue the tabs.

Step 2
Locate the insert for the bottom of the box. Fold up all 4 sides and glue the tabs.

Step 3
Press the insert down into the bottom of the box to cover the holes. Gluing is optional.

Step 4
Locate the top of the box - this piece has the semicircles cut into the sides. Fold up all 4 sides and glue the sides to create a lid.

Step 5
Locate the 4 stud pieces. Fold all 8 sides up and fold in the tabs on each side.

Step 6
Add glue to the tabs on each of the 8 sides and glue each side to the next, creating an octagonal stud shape.

Step 7
Your stud should look like this once all sides are glued together.

Step 8
Fold out all of the tabs along the edge of the stud.

Step 9
Keeping those tabs folded in, insert the stud into the holes on the lid of the box.

Step 10
Fold the tabs outward to hold the stud in place - glue here is helpful but not required.

Step 11
Repeat for all 4 studs. There is a square piece (not pictured) included in your file - glue that down here to cover the ugly tabs on the inside of the lid.

Step 12
Place the lid on top of the bottom. Stack and enjoy!
