80s Movie Night Treat Boxes (with a FREEBIE!)
As I write this blog post I'm counting down to the big show: the Stranger Things series finale. It's a big deal, y'all, years in the making - people are throwing the coolest viewing parties! I've got the perfect 80's inspired templates for you to host your own. Oh, and by the way, subscribers get all 3 of these templates free.
These three paper projects were designed to go together as a full 80s nostalgia set, perfect for those Stranger Things watch parties or just a themed movie night or even a retro birthday party. I'm a 90s baby, but I'm a sucker for the 80's era aesthetic. This set was designed to capture that feeling of that nostalgic time, and it is sure to turn your watch party... upside down. (see what I did there?) And don't worry, no spoilers ahead.

Boom Box Treat Box
The boom box is the centerpiece of this set and is sized to fit a standard microwave popcorn bag inside. It instantly sets the tone for an 80s movie night and works as the base for the entire treat setup.

I designed it so the cassette tape box fits right inside, which makes it easy to bundle everything together for a salty and sweet movie snack.

Popcorn, candy, and all the nostalgic vibes in one place. This one is absolutely Lucas and Max approved. You can purchase the boom box template here.

Cassette Tape Treat Box
The cassette tape works as a treat box all on its own. I filled mine with M&Ms, then placed it inside the boom box along with the popcorn to create a full 80s movie night treat.

It is the perfect size for candy, small snacks, or even notes and gift cards. I used a 3x4 wilton cellophane bag, which you'll see in the videos - but I recommend instead using a self-sealing option to make crafting a little easier. I linked those in my supply list below.

This one really pulls the whole set together and adds that extra nostalgic detail people instantly recognize. You can purchase the cassette tape template here.
Using the Cricut Pen Tool

For the mixtape label on the cassette, I used the Cricut pen tool to write the mix name. I left the lines written with a thin point pen, then went back over the title with a Sharpie to make it stand out more.

I have a full tutorial available exclusive for subscribers on Patreon where I show you how to design specifically for the Cricut pen tool and turn any font into a writing font. This makes projects like this so much easier and opens up a lot of design options.
Valentine’s Day and Birthday Gift Ideas
The cassette tape box also works really well for Valentine’s Day. You can add a special song name, a short message, or an inside joke to the label for a fun themed gift.

It also makes a great birthday gift - add the recipient’s birth year or a favorite year to the label and tuck a gift card inside along with candy. Pair it with the boom box and you have a unique themed gift that feels personal and nostalgic!

What I Used
- Bearly Art glue (get 10 percent off through my link!)
- 12x12 Cardstock Shop using the American Crafts Primary Colors Pack
- Black cardstock

Puzzle Cube Treat Box

It fits perfectly with the 80s theme and works great as an individual favor or an extra piece for your Stranger Things watch party setup. This one is perfect when you want something quick to assemble that still ties into the overall theme.

Bearly Art's fine tip really comes in handy for gluing the colors onto this template. It was really satisfying to do all the little dots of glue before adding the colored panels.

Inspired by the famous, addictive 80s puzzle cube phenomenon - the design is unmistakeable.

The puzzle cube box completes the set - it opens and closes for adding candy or small treats.
